A Day of Fine Shootin' !!

So it was a great day yesterday as far as Family goes! My wonderful Father-in-law got to take Jarrin and Keeley out back to shoot! Keeley has shot once before, but Jarrin wanted nothing to do with it! He already stated that he will only bow hunt! He doesn't like the "BOOM" of the guns BUT Keeley promised it wouldn't be loud or scary so he decided to try it out! It was a great day in our Family History!! He shot and couldn't get enough!! It was only a 22 so it wasn't loud or scary but it was a great step toward bigger guns! I know some of you might be scared of guns and wonder why we would let our 4 and 5 year old shoot, but fact is, Allen (F-I-L) Brad and I are big on teaching kids safety on guns and how they work and have told them if they ever want to look at a gun or hold one to just ask and we would be more than happy to teach and show them. Kids will always get into and do things that are mysterious or forbidden so to take the curiosity and forbiddeness away, we simply set rules and enforce them. We always unload our guns before they go into the house and they are kept in a safe so it's not like we keep loaded guns laying around or anything! It's nice to see them know and understand the power and what they are used for (hunting) and possible self(or family) defense. I love our Right to Keep and Bear Arms!!

Jarrin was being goofy!!

Keeley lining up the sights so she can hit the target! She's so cute!!

I love Jarrin's scrunched face when he was lining up the sights!!

I am a happy Mommy!! Papa(Allen) has already bought Keeley a Pink 22 and Jarrin a black 22, so it will be a great gift for them to add to our gun safe come Christmas!!

Haha, that is so funny that Keeley is the daring one that convinces Jarrin to shoot. That's awesome now that he likes it. I agree that if you teach them to respect guns and be careful with them when they are young then they respect them and don't misuse them as they are older.

Very fun! And good job teaching them gun safety. That's the biggest thing for me. I believe everyone has the right to keep and bear arms (unless they have some criminal/psychological past that should prevent it) and it's the parents job to teach their children to respect guns.

how awesome... I totally agree.. as long as you teach them when they are young the right ways, they will grow up to know the correct way to use and behave around them.
