We had our yearly Duck Banding day. This year the Zauggs were able to join us. We all had so much fun. We got there and the ducks were already in the bags waiting to be banded. He explained why they are banded and showed everyone how he does it and what information he takes down. He taught everyone how to tell how old they are by looking the the tips of the feathers and also told us how to tell if they are male or female by looking the the beaks and the colors and length of the lines on the wings. We then got to take them carefully down to the lake and release them back into the wild. The kids LOVED it, of course, and we are so excited to do it again next year!
Sawyer thought is was really cool so gently put his hands on the bag and feel the ducks moving around in them.
Sawyer was being silly and he made a funny face. I missed it though. Bummer.
It was a really cloudy day with a mix of sun showing every now and again. I was just SO glad it didn't pour on us.
Resupplying the duck trap with corn to bring more in. The Biologist does the catching and banding every day for 1 month.

Wow that looks like a fun time. Where do you do this and how. I think my kids would really love to do this.
