What a way to wake up in the middle of the night!!

So it was around 12:40 am this morning that we woke up to Plum, our dog, letting out a bark and then creepy growls. So what does my protective husband do? He jumps out of bed looking to jump an intruder or something getting ready to come in...but then as he listens closer, we decide if the sound we were hearing was gunshots or then fireworks. It took a few seconds of waking up to understand that the sound was outside OUR window. This is what we discovered.. it was the huge house across the street up in flames!!! Snap, Crackle and Popping!! Now those sounds made sense!! It was so loud!! Brad was the first to call 911. Then he went out to get a better look. I lust took video and pictures from inside.

The good thing is that it is not a house that is occupied. It is actually a new house a week away from being complete. It was a house built for the Parade of Homes this year and the company, Aspen Homes, builds a lot of high end custom homes, along with other companies, and show off the houses they build in this Parade that lasts for days. This one was going to sell for around $800,000! Well the neighbor, before he new there was a fire, heard a boom and then a car peel away, which is what we now think caused the bark and growls from Plum!! We also had a detective come to ask questions because they went through all the possibilities and there is no way it was accidental! Crazy, crazy night! Brad and I were up till 2am wired talking about doing some more fire safety and escape practicing!! It's amazing what an up close taste of reality will make you think about. Not that our house will be set on fire on purpose, but just seeing that and thinking even accidental can cause that!! It's scary!!
This was close to the beginning of the fire and it didn't take long at all to end up like this next pic.
The flames were so high and the sparks and ashes were at least 200 yards up!! The Firefighters were soaking the houses and the fence line that were only about 30 feet away, along with the pine tree that was close!!
And this is the aftermath of the fire the next morning and the detectives examining the rubble.

Oh wow. How frightening! So glad that you are ok and that nobody was inside. I hope they find whoever is responsible for the fire.

Wow. So sad that someone set that fire on purpose. Glad no one was hurt.

Oh my gosh! thats crazy! what that one like Belinda's house or in the same area? Thats horrible! scares me a little. I wonder why someone did that. Let me know if they find out who and why they burnt it down.

I feel so badly for the builders! Think of how much money they lost!!

Well, Sariah, it was the house above Belinda's in that same gated community and thankfully the builders did have insurance to cover any loss, but it still stinks!!
