Baby Food!!

Okay!! So I am so excited that I actually did this! I had said to Brad many many times that I was saving the baby food jars that I bought so that I could fill them with my own homemade food and guess what......I never did until NOW!!! It was so nice, the kiddos watched Baby Einstein while I was blending things together!! I bought organic veggies like butternut squash, yams, sweet potatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, peas, green beans, and some bananas. I had some picked fruit that I had like blueberries and apples. As you can see my babies eat a lot of veggies! I always start them on veggies for the first 2 months and then start adding in fruit, that way they don't just eat the fruit ones! It has worked beautifully! They still love their veggies!

I only have a smoothie blender, but it worked just perfect for Sawyers veggie smoothies!! This was the sweet potato batch! Mmmmmmmm, much better homemade I do admit.

So in the end I had jars of peas, green beans, squash, bananas, sweet potatoes, and mixes of bananas and blueberries, squash, sweet potato and yams, sweet potatoes, zucchini and yellow squash and I will get to do the apples another day! I ran out of jars! Good thing apples last a while outside in our freezing cold temps!! :)
So I now have 46 jars of baby food plus the other 8 in the freezer that will be transferred to a freezer safe bag asap! Yay!!! Brad came home and his jaw dropped, it was the best reaction! He said" I can't believe you actually did it!! Nice!" It felt good to do since it was 4 years ago that I had first planned to do this for Jarrin!!
I saved so much money too, even though it was organic, and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be!! I am ready for another round in a month ! :)

Nice work! That's a ton! I made some of Kaylee's baby food and it tasted SO much better than the store bought stuff. When I ran out of jars I put the food in ice cube trays and froze it. Then I put the cubes in freezer bags till I needed them and I'd just pull out a few cubes and thaw them for dinner.

Wow, that's a lot of work, but the finished product looks fantastic. And now you know exactly what you are putting in your babies!

Bethany, I was going to put the rest in ice cube trays but I remembered that we got a built in ice maker in our freezer when we built our home! I debated about how easy it would be to clean out when the frozen cubes were done!I decided quickly that I wouldn't haha ,So I think I am going to go out and buy some because they would work so much better than the measuring cups they're freezing in right now ! hahaha!

Wow, you are super mom, I have thought about doing organic and time wise I can now but with the other two we were always moving or doing something I had no time! I just bought an awesome blender also that I make smoothies almost every night with for Chloe and I!! Cheaper than Jamba Juice and tastes the same! We definitely have to get together soon I mean after the holidays! Thanks for commenting cause I would have never found you on here!

thank you for your comment, and I want to say this as nicely as possible, but I'm afraid it will still come out.... mean? I'll tell dad that I've been doing well, but I don't give two shakes if that man is proud of me or not, I don't give to shakes if I see him or not, I don't give two shakes about what he's chosing to do with his life as long as he leaves me out of it. So yes, I'll tell him, it will be hard to keep from him when I tell mom, but if he is proud of me or not... I really don't care, I'm not here for him.
